PAULINE MIRIAM & JOYCE SCHILTZ, BELOVED FRIENDS AND ORIGINAL FOUNDERS
Picture
Hot Flash dances was the brain child of Pauline Miriam, a political organizer from the 70s (anti-war, gay liberation, lesbian liberation, the women’s movement).  When she found herself unexpectedly single at age 50, Pauline felt her options for meeting women her own age were extremely limited.

With necessity being the mother of invention, Hot Flash Dance Parties was born.  After three decades of activism, Pauline knew how to throw a party that could make the whole town talk and it wasn't long before women in several cities were burning up the Hotflash dance floor making new friends and finding love:  including Pauline, herself.

Pauline met Joyce Shutlz at a Hotflash dance several years back and ever since Joyce was our in-house graphic designer and bookkeeper, Joyce’s attributes are razor-sharp.

Voted “Best Women’s Dance Regardless of Sexual Orientation” in Best of Seattle 2008 Magazine, Pauline hopes to continue producing some of the best retro women’s dances in the country.
